The history of SWISS MILITARY goes as far back as 1926. This was the year when Max Bürgin, the founder of Montres Charmex SA started his apprenticeship in one of the leading watch factories near Basel, Switzerland. His exceptional talents soon caught the attention of the management – he was promoted and eventually made head of the technical department. What he really wanted though was to have his own watch business, pursuing the traditional art of manufacturing state-of-the-art timepieces. His dream finally came true and later on in 1989 his son Manfred Bürgin, today’s President together with his wife Kathleen joined the by then prospering company. 1999 their son Frank M. Bürgin, today’s CEO followed and thus continued the family’s tradition

Manufacturing bespoke timepieces using but choice materials of the highest quality remains the credo of SWISS MILITARY USA INC. to this very day

Montres Charmex SA has supplied military and law enforcement units worldwide. Most recently the Singapore Armed Forces, the Close Protection Unit of the UN troops in the Kosovo, the SEK SWAT team of Cologne, Germany and the police of Zürich, Switzerland were equipped with our watches

These professionals rely on our products because we do NOT COMPROMISE – our watches stand for the highest quality and are tested both in the laboratory and under real life conditions. We manufacture TOOLS, NOT TOYS and our World Record holding model 20’000 FEET is a Guinness Book of World Records recognized tribute to this statement. All our timepieces are Swiss Made, at least 200m water resistant, they all have sapphire crystals and screw-down crowns

The R&D partners, IFM-Geomar Institute, University of Kiel/Germany, the Oceanography Institute of the University Southampton/United Kingdom and several others help us to achieve these goals

AUTHENTICITY

The success of these watches is based on a consistent portfolio strategy, uncompromising quality and the use of a highly innovative Swiss watch technology. Unfortunately this attracts a multitude of cheap copies of our watches, abusing their brand name which they produce under two brands SWISS MILITARY^TM  and CX SWISS MILITARY WATCH^TM using these two logos as seen here:

Every watch have several distinguishing attributes. Besides the original logo on the dial and the caseback there usually is a four-digit serial number engraved on the caseback, too. Here an example: – please note that see-through casebacks do NOT allow for an engraved serial number:
